Bump Dots

Having trouble seeing appliance controls?

Starting the wash or selecting the oven temp used to be a squint-and-guess show for me. I spent a lot of energy. Thankfully, my OT showed me bump dots, small raised shapes that can be affixed to objects.

Purchase bump dots online at a place like Maxi Aids, or head on over to a craft store to buy a bottle of puffy paint. The stuff used to make awesome t-shirt designs in the 90s? Yeah, it’s still around.

Squeeze a drop on the desired button or label. I used my hand magnifier for accuracy. For dials, place another dot on the start mark, matching up the dots as you turn to your setting.

I chose neon pink puffy paint for contrast. After a few weeks, I didn’t even look anymore as my sense of touch does the work.
