Tandem Cycling

With the weather getting warmer and warmer every day, it makes me want to be more active outside. As I grew up, I swam, cycled, and ran a whole bunch. I discovered yoga eventually and liked that, too.

I don’t have much of a desire to be running anymore, and I don’t live quite close enough to a pool where I could swim laps. Yoga I can do anytime I want in my living room. And cycling, I can still do that.

Wait a minute, you’re thinking. Aren’t you visually impaired? How are you going to do that?

I’m not confident enough to ride my own bike wherever I would want to with the vision I have and without tools like a monocular, but I married someone who practically lives on a bike. My husband is a bike nerd; not only does he put in hundreds of miles a month on his bikes, but we have a room in our house devoted to his sport which I lovingly refer to as “the bike shoppe.”

My husband and I have ridden a tandem bike. It worked out really well. We are a good team. So, we’re looking into buying one and starting up some regular riding. I see other blind bloggers doing this, notably Becky over at Cruisin’ with Cricket. People like her motivate me to take on a challenge like tandem cycling. It’s something that I think I will enjoy.
